# Signing In & Your Account

Notana works fully offline for the core study tools — you don't need an account to upload an image and explore the Composition, Value, Shapes, Color, Edges, or Illustrate tabs. An account is only needed for two things: **syncing your settings across devices** and **connecting cloud storage** (Google Photos, Dropbox).

## Creating an account

1. Open the **Profile** tab.
2. Choose sign up, and enter your email and a password.
3. Confirm your email if prompted.
4. You'll land back on the Profile tab, now signed in.

## Signing in on a new device

Sign in with the same email and password from the Profile tab. If you have an active subscription, your saved settings sync down automatically.

## Sessions

Notana keeps track of the devices you're signed in on under **Profile → Sessions**. If you ever suspect a device shouldn't have access anymore, you can end that session from the list. There's also an emergency "clear session" button on the Profile tab for when sign-in gets into a stuck state — it safely signs you out locally without affecting your account.

## What your account does *not* do

Signing in never uploads your images anywhere. Image processing always happens locally in your browser. Your account only stores your email, display name, subscription status, and — if you have an active subscription — your settings, so they follow you between devices.
