Privacy Policy for Notana

Effective:1 st January, 2026

Last Updated: June 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how Notana (“we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use our browser extension.

Summary

Your images stay on your device by default. All image analysis happens locally in your browser, and we never send your images to Notana’s servers. The only time an image leaves your device is if you explicitly choose to save it to your own Google Photos or Dropbox account using our optional save features. In that case the image is sent directly to the account you connected — never to us, and never automatically.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide

  • Account Information:When you create an account, we collect your email address and display name.
  • Feedback:When you submit feedback or feature requests, we collect the information you provide.
  • Payment Information:When you subscribe, payment is processed by Stripe. We receive confirmation of your subscription status but do not store your payment details.
  • Connected Cloud Accounts (Optional):If you choose to connect Google Photos or Dropbox, we store the authorization tokens needed to upload images to your account when you ask us to. You initiate every save; Notana never reads from or writes to these accounts in the background.

1.2 Information Collected Automatically

  • Settings and Preferences:Your theme choices, viewer settings, and tool configurations (only synced if you have an active subscription).
  • Session Information:Device type, browser type, and session timestamps for security and session management.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve Notana.
  • Process your subscription and manage your account.
  • Sync your settings across devices (with active subscription).
  • Respond to your feedback and support requests.
  • Send important updates about the service.
  • Detect and prevent fraud and abuse.
  • Save processed images to your connected Google Photos or Dropbox account, only when you choose to do so.

3. Information Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in the following circumstances:

  • Service Providers:We use Supabase for authentication and data storage, and Stripe for payment processing.
  • Legal Requirements:We may disclose information if required by law.
  • Business Transfers:In the event of a merger or acquisition, your information may be transferred.

4. Optional Third‑Party Integrations

Notana offers optional features to save your processed images to your own cloud storage. These integrations are entirely opt‑in: they remain inactive until you explicitly connect an account, and an image is sent only when you actively choose to save it.

  • Google Photos:If you connect Google Photos, Notana requests permission to add photos to albums it creates (photoslibrary.appendonly) and to list the albums it has created (photoslibrary.readonly.appcreateddata). Notana can only see and manage media and albums it created itself — it cannot access the rest of your Google Photos library.
  • Dropbox:If you connect Dropbox, Notana uploads only the images you choose to save.

You can disconnect either account at any time, which revokes Notana’s access. We store only the authorization tokens needed to perform the saves you request. Your use of these services is also governed by Google’s and Dropbox’s own privacy policies.

Notana’s use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

5. Data Security

We implement appropriate security measures to protect your information:

  • All data transmission is encrypted using TLS/SSL.
  • Authentication tokens are stored securely.
  • We use industry‑standard security practices.

6. Your Rights

  • Feedback:Retained for product improvement purposes.
  • Session Data:Automatically deleted after 30 days of inactivity.

8. Children’s Privacy
